Miss You

Kate Eberlen

Timing is everything. You've heard that before. A moment too soon, or too late, and everything can change. It changes the chain of events. But what if a moment many years ago, that perhaps seemed insignificant at the time, led you eventually to where you know you are supposed to be? Kinda crazy to think about. I found this pretty book on my shelf, and decided it was time to read it.

"We stare at each other for a couple of seconds, and then we both exclaim, simultaneously, 'You're the one!'"

Tess and Gus meet in Italy on vacation. If you can really call it, "meet." He takes a photo for Tess and her friend, and she recommends a gelato spot. Through the course of the novel, you will follow Tess and Gus over sixteen years. Every once in a while, you will see their stories overlap, though they don't realize that it is happening. Each going through tragedies, heartache, and feeling lost, their paths are leading them to back to where they started.

This was a good light read, though the book is over 400 pages long. It is a romance, without really being a romance book. I especially appreciated Tess' love and devotion for her sister Hope. Being someone who always felt the need to step up and take care of things, I felt a kinship with Tess. It's not always easy, but you do what needs to be done. I enjoyed getting to know the characters, and found myself trying to make them open their eyes when they were making mistakes that they just couldn't see. Overall, a good book.
