When Sue Found Sue: Sue Hendrickson Discovers Her T. Rex

Toni Buzzeo

Kids love dinosaurs. It's true. Pretty sure the last person to ask you what your favorite dinosaur is was a kid. Dinosaurs are fascinating. In my library, we have buckets and buckets of dinosaur books, and they all get checked out. And, you've got to admit, when it comes to dinosaurs, the T. Rex is pretty epic.

"Sue rushed back to the campsite, humming with the excitement, the happiness, and the thrill of her find. She couldn't wait to tell the others. A Tyrannosaurus rex!"

5 out of 5 Stars

Sue Henderson was a shy girl who was always curious, and always finding things. She grew up to do all sorts of diving work, go searching for prehistoric butterflies, and eventually, searching for dinosaur fossils. Following her gut one day, Sue wandered off on her own, and she discovered T. Rex fossils. The crew named the T. Rex, Sue. The T. Rex is now located in the Field Museum, and is the most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossil so far.

Sue is so cool! Both Sue Hendrickson, and Sue the T. Rex. What a great book for kids. They will love learning about Sue and her discovery. I love that Sue's quiet, introverted personality as a child was discussed. I think that several kids would love being able to relate to someone like that. There is even a real photograph of Sue in the back of the book! How awesome. Now I really want to go to the Field Museum and see it in real life!
